2,055 cases registered for traffic rules breach in June
LAHORE:Punjab Highway Patrol (PHP) has released its performance report for the month of June on Monday. Punjab Highway Patrol took timely action against criminal elements in June 2021 under its commitment "Safe Highways, Safe People"
During the last month, various branches of Punjab Highway Patrol carried out projects under different heads to enhance the capacity of the department. PHP registered 2055 cases for speeding and violation of traffic rules. Cases were registered against 88 persons for illegal possession and display of illegal weapons and six Kalashnikovs, seven rifles, 10 guns and 59 pistols were recovered.
After registering 72 cases of drug and alcohol offenses, 849 liters of liquor, 3kg 397 grams of hashish and 350 grams of heroin were recovered from the possession of the accused.
Meanwhile, PHP arrested two A-category, 43 B-category proclaimed offenders and 51 court absconders. They also recovered 86kg of cannabis, a stolen buffalo, two motorcycles and two mobile phones from their possession. During the commute, 13618 passengers were assisted and 99 missing children were reunited with their parents. In addition, 897 temporary encroachments and 15 permanent encroachments were removed. While taking action against smoke-emitting vehicles, 163 vehicles were challanned and a fine of Rs 89,600 imposed. 82 people were prosecuted for putting blue lights on vehicles and 32 people for using green number plates illegally.
